Nuke-Evolution : 2nd DUI Leads To Jail For Doran Sanger

As many of you may recall, the Director of the Panama City Downtown Improvement Board was arrested for DUI on Feb. 14 at the intersection of 15th street and Jenks Avenue.  His attorney, Lisa Anderson said He was working 18 hour days at the 2010 St. Andrews Mardi Gras celebration.

Sanger had refused to submit to a blood alcohol test.  His first DUI arrest was reduced to reckless driving.

On Tuesday, a jury of 4 women and 2 men only took 40 minutes to find him guilty.  Judge Shane Vann then sentenced him to 15 days in jail, one year probations, a $1,500 fine, 75 hours of community service and a one year suspension of his drivers licence.

Judge Vann ordered him taken into immediate custody to begin serving his sentance, saying Sanger was a "danger to the community and himself"   “This is not his first rodeo,” Vann said, referring to Sanger’s prior DUI arrest.

It is not clear yet, how this conviction will affect Sangers employment.

Other costs are yet to be determined.  Certainly, is insurance premiums will rise once his license is re-instated.  He also faces the consquense of loosing his job, and his transportation choices are now severly limited.

It is never a good idea to drink and drive, however, if you find yourself charged with this, or any other crime, contact us or any other  reputable attorney.

According to the State Attorney’s Office:

Jeremy Wayne Deterding of Panama City was sentenced to 15 days in a jail and a $1,200 fine after he was convicted Wednesday of DUI with property damage.  Prosecutor Megan Teeple told jurors in her opening statement that Deterding drove into a power pole on U.S. 98 the morning of June 7, 2009, after nearly hitting two occupied vehicles.

Teeple said a motorist watched Deterding after the crash as he got out of the car, started to walk away but then returned to the vehicle to await emergency personnel. He had only minor cuts and bruises.

Nuke-Evolution : Texas Man Gets Life Sentance After 9th DUI

Bobby Stoval, a 54 year old Texas Man was convited last week on his 9th DUI charge, and sentanced to life in prision.

In early July he weaved through several lanes of traffic,  hitting another vehicle and injuring the driver. It was determined that Stovall had a  blood alcohol level of .32, four times the legal limit in Texas.

One DUI is enough to get anyone in trouble with the law, but when the judge found out that Stoval had eight prior DWI convictions across different counties in Texas, he ordered up a life sentence for Stovall.

in addition to the 8 other DUI convictions , Stovall also had a extensive rap sheet for other crimes, including burglary, credit card abuse and supplying alcohol to a minor.  It has been argued that the sentence was too harsh and, that the court should have considered his struggle with alcoholism.

Stovall will be eligible for parole in five years, but depending on his conduct in prison and other factors, that could be as long as 10 to 15 years.
